DARE Graduation

Heather along with all of McKinley 5th grade graduated from the DARE program.  They usually get a shirt that is 10 times to big but tonight they received a DARE bumper sticker and a key chain with a light and compass on it.  I am proud of her.

There was a coloring contest for the Bear River Bird Refuge to create a new banner for them.  Mrs. Denney's 4th grade class entered the contest.  Rachel and Crystal Vargas were the winners from McKinley Elementary.  Rachel was able to spend 2 hours at the Bird Refuge taking her picture from an 11 x 14 size to a banner size.  It was a lot of work but she did great.  Just check out these pictures.

21 Years

Yesterday was my 21st wedding anniversary.  I spent it with some of my girlfriends at El Parral for a late lunch, early dinner.  Then I went to gymnastics with my girls.  My husband helped one son build a pop bottle rocket with an egg carrier in it and then went home teaching.  How is that for celebrating our anniversary?  Maybe we can do it on Saturday as the girls have their Alice in Wonderland play on Friday.

SUN

Things are going well in the Nielsen household.  The girls did great at the gymnastics competition.  Heather was 9th overall and Rachel was 7th overall.

We are enjoying this nice warm sunshine.  I hope it stays and doesn't get too hot.

Hospital

My dad is back in the hospital.  His bowels quit working on him, 6 days after surgery.  He is in a lot of pain.  The local doctors did not want to treat him due to his recent surgery and his medical history.  So we took him to Salt Lake City.  The CAT scan didn't show why there was a blockage.  His bowels are working now, but he is still in pain.  The doctors have my dad on a liquid diet and will see about sending him home tomorrow.

We love you dad and are continuing to pray for your recovery.  The Lord's will be done.

More Pictures

Bear River Bird Refuge

I got up this morning and got ready to go on a field trip with Rachel.  This is the annual 4th grade field trip to the Bird Refuge.  In the Fall they go to Hardware Ranch.  The 4th graders learn about the watershed.  I was expecting to go only as a parent.  As soon as a walked in the door at the school Mrs. Clark said, "You're the teacher have fun." I guess she was pretty sick and so I was the sub.  The teachers help to teach one of the stations.  I was scared and nervous.  This year the teachers taught the macro-invertabae station.  Since Mrs. Denney has a student teacher, she and Miss Warner did the teaching.  So I actually was able to be a mom.  Here are some pictures.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICHOLAS!!

Today is Nicholas' 15th birthday. He was born at 3:18 am on Easter Sunday; also daylight savings time.  He received Skullcandy headphones, jeans, jacket, track shoes, and a cell phone.  We made him go on a treasure hunt (scriptures - furnace, oven, bed, mirror, birdcage) to find the cell phone.  We hope he had a great day.  We love you, Nicholas, and are very proud of you. Also Chelsey Wakely, Abraham Burnham, and a few other friends decorated his room.

PRAY

My trust is in the Lord today.  His will be done.  Pray for my dad and his surgeon as they do another surgery on his belly.  We love you dad!
